My Apple Watch doesn't show my workouts

Finished workouts and routines go both ways between the iPhone and the watch: right away when both are nearby, or as soon as they reconnect, when each side sends the last 30 days again so nothing goes missing. A workout in progress follows whichever device you used last, so you can start on one and carry on with the other.

If nothing arrives, check that the watch is connected to the iPhone, that Dolmen is installed on the watch (in the Watch app on your iPhone, under My Watch), and open Dolmen on both. Give it a minute: the system sends workouts in the background. Your settings, your own exercises and Dolmen Plus come from the iPhone, so change them there; the watch shows them read-only.

The rest timer doesn't show on the Lock Screen or in the Dynamic Island

Dolmen starts its Live Activity when a workout begins with the app open. Check that Live Activities are on for Dolmen in the Settings app (Settings, Dolmen, Live Activities), and that Live Activities are allowed on the Lock Screen under Face ID & Passcode. The Dynamic Island is on iPhone models that have one; on others the timer shows on the Lock Screen.

A workout you start on the watch gets its Live Activity the next time you open Dolmen on the iPhone. The buttons on the Live Activity (Done set, +30s, Skip) change the workout even while Dolmen is closed, and the app shows the change when you open it.

To hear when the rest is over, allow notifications for Dolmen. Dolmen asks once, when you start your first workout; if you said no, turn them on in the Settings app, under Notifications, Dolmen.

Apple Health

On the iPhone, turn on Save workouts to Health in Dolmen's settings, under Apple Health. iOS asks once which data Dolmen may use: allow it to write Workouts, and to read Workouts and Heart Rate, which Dolmen uses only to notice workouts your watch already saved. On the watch, Dolmen asks for its own access when you start your first workout there: allow Workouts, Heart Rate and Active Energy.

If you turned something off, open the Health app, tap your picture, then Apps under Privacy, then Dolmen, and turn it on again. On Apple Watch, open the Settings app, then Privacy & Security, then Health, then Dolmen.

Each workout is saved once. A workout you track on the watch is saved by the watch, with its heart rate and energy; the iPhone sees it and leaves it alone. When you edit or delete a workout in your Dolmen history, its copy in Health follows. Workouts you import from another app are not saved to Health, since that app may have saved them already.

Restore Dolmen Plus on a new device

Open Dolmen's settings and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple ID you subscribed with. Plus then unlocks on your Apple Watch too; open Dolmen on the iPhone once so the watch hears about it.

Cancel Dolmen Plus

In the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Dolmen, or tap Manage subscription in Dolmen's settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or the current period ends. Your workouts, routines and records stay; when the period ends, the coach, the Plus programs, strength trends and weekly sets per muscle lock again. All your routines stay, and you can add new ones again once you have fewer than three.

Importing from Strong or Hevy doesn't work

Dolmen reads the CSV file each app exports. In Strong or Hevy, look for exporting your data or workouts in that app's settings, save the CSV file to Files, then in Dolmen open History, tap the menu at the top and choose Import from Strong or Hevy.

  • "This doesn't look like a workout export": the file is not a Strong or Hevy workout export, or it was opened and saved again in another app. Export it once more and choose the new file.
  • Weights look 2.2 times too big or too small: Strong's export doesn't say whether it used kilograms or pounds, so Dolmen asks. Delete the imported workouts and import again with the other unit.
  • An exercise shows up as your own rather than Dolmen's: Dolmen matches names to its library and adds any it doesn't recognize as your own exercise, with all its sets. You can rename it in the Exercises tab.
  • Workouts you already have in Dolmen are skipped, so importing the same file twice adds nothing.

The coach's numbers look wrong

The coach works from your last sessions of that exercise, at the heaviest weight you used, and from the rep range in your routine (8 to 12 without one). Warm-up and drop sets don't count. If a set was logged with the wrong weight, fix it in History and the next suggestion follows. You can always change the numbers before you lift.

Delete your data

To delete one workout, open it in History and tap Delete workout. To delete a routine, touch and hold it on the Train tab and choose Delete; workouts you did with it stay in your history. To delete everything Dolmen stored, delete the app from your iPhone and your Apple Watch. Workouts already saved to Apple Health stay there: in the Health app, open Browse, then Activity, then Workouts, then Show All Data, and delete them there.

Is Dolmen medical advice?

No. Dolmen is a training log. Its suggestions follow a simple rule from your own numbers and don't know how you feel on the day. Check with a professional before starting a new program, especially with an injury or condition.
